On the weekend of March 16th and 17th, Kid Power participated in the NBC 4 Health and Fitness Expo, an event focused on promoting active and healthy lifestyles in the DC community. There were many stations, ranging from Zumba classes, an obstacle course, and a chef who provided cooking pointers.

At the Kid Power station, staff, parents, volunteers, and youth spoke about the organization's mission to foster and promote healthy communities. The event provided a fantastic opportunity to network with individuals and organizations that share the same vision.

Regarding the event, Middle School Director Patrick DiSalvo said, "It was great getting a chance to speak with so many wonderful people who were interested in bettering the collective health ofHealth_and_Fitness_Expo_1.jpgDC. There are so many resources out there and I'm proud that Kid Power can contribute ideas for helping area youth."

Staff prepared "No Bake Cookies" for all of those in attendance. This tasty treat, made with graham crackers, honey, peanut butter and raisins, provided an example of one of the many healthy, simple options that Kid Power participants learn to prepare on a regular basis. Find the recipe here!

While there, Kid Power's Elementary School Director Jackie McKinney took advantage of the various stations and met some very cool people, including the NBC event mascot and the Children's Hospital Bear!
